This beautifully painted chest is a Hungarian
marriage chest. It is traditional for the bride-to-be to collect all
her items for her new married home in the chest and on the day of
the wedding the parents paint the chest - usually including the year
of the wedding and give the chest as a present to the bride and
groom. |

This was
a good sized English trunk, all in the original powder blue paint.
(I won't mention the fact that the customer that bought it had it
stripped) |

We buy so
many boxes that it is unusual for us not to have any at any
time. We usually have lots and lots of the smaller Hungarian
soldiers boxes - like these ones. |
